Silent Flyway.  Acrylic on canvas. 18 x 24 inches. Fortunate to live near the D&R Greenway, this view with the ever-changing weather and diurnal rhythms continues to draw me in. Among other birds inhabiting the woods, the inimitable call of a Barred Owl ("Who cooks for you?") haunts the area periodically, especially around sunrise or sunset. Although I have made recordings of this owl, I have not actually seen it--and therefore adding it to my landscape seemed to complete the painting. In New Jersey this owl is considered threatened.
