Hangin'On. Acrylic & pen on birchwood. 12 x 9 x 7/8 inch. I developed this Black Swallowtail painting from a photo I took in our yard. I make sure that members of the Apiaceae family are planted there--dill, fennel, parsley, etc. When I can locate the butterfly eggs, I bring them to our screened in porch to feast and to continue through their stages of development until they emerge as butterflies and are released again, sometime not until the following spring!
